For the third assignment of the class we had to create an animation based on an animal of our choosing and its idiom.

Idiom:

1. a group of words established by usage as having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words (e.g., rain cats and dogs, see the light )

 

The animal i chose to animate was a pigeon. The idiom i used was:

“Set the cat among the pigeons”

 

The first step was to create the actual pigeon that was gonna be used in the animation. Before getting on the computer i sketched out a few ideas:

 

The next step was to create a story board to be able to figure out what the actual story was gonna be and what objects i was going to have to design in illustrator:

 

 

Next i designed my characters using illustrator:

Then i transferred each character into After Effects and began to create the animation:

Some of my favorite pieces from the faculty art show at lbcc. These two pieces stood for

for me the most.

the level of detail in this painting is what really drew my eye to it. I loved the texture of the dress and the way the artist played with shadows and light at the bottom of the composition.

i loved the way the artist incorporated figures into the painting in the form of little books. The heart shaped flame i interpreted as the artist saying that by burning these books in a way we burn the humanity out of our society.

For my flip book i choose to base it on the word Diving: The story of a fish traversing to the depths of his fish bowl to find a reward awaiting him.
